M. Sc Nursing Programme

The postgraduate programme builds on graduate-level competence and applies nursing theories to clinical practice, education, administration and research. It prepares nurses for leadership positions in nursing and health fields as specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researchers.

The programme responds to national priorities and changing social needs, provides a basis for post-master’s learning and encourages accountability and lifelong learning for continuing quality improvement in care.

• Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as nurse specialists, consultants, educators and administrators across professional settings.
• Apply concepts, theories and principles of nursing science with advanced clinical competence.
• Demonstrate leadership as a nurse educator and manager, and conduct, interpret and apply nursing research.
• Plan and effect positive change in nursing practice and health-care delivery systems.

• Applicants should be Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives, or equivalent, with a State Nursing Registration Council.
• A B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Hons. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing qualification with at least 55% aggregate marks from an Indian Nursing Council-recognised institution is required.
• At least one year of work experience is required after Basic B.Sc. Nursing, or prior to/after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
• Candidates must be medically fit. SC/ST candidates may receive 5% relaxation of marks. Selection is based on the merit of an entrance examination held by the University or competent authority.
